Case NY/TC/001 – Weekly Recovery Journey (Turitu, Kiambu)

INTRO PARAGRAPH:

Case NY/TC/001 is the very first documented recovery journey under the Nyumba Yetu Holistic Recovery Framework—a model rooted in restoring the body, mind, and spirit. Set in Turitu, Kiambu County, this 3-month pilot is made possible in partnership with Turitu Care Centre, a quiet but powerful community-based facility.

We’re documenting this journey weekly. Each post below shares honest updates on K’s progress (anonymized for dignity), highlighting milestones, emotional wins, setbacks, and reflections. This page is not just for updates—it’s a symbol of what structured, local recovery can look like in Kenya.

💬 REFLECTIONS FROM THE TEAM:

“Case NY/TC/001 reminds us that healing isn’t linear—it’s relational. Every update here is a thread in a larger story of homegrown, sustainable change.”
Francis Kariuki Muya, Nyumba Yetu Project Lead

🧱 WHY THIS MATTERS:

Addiction recovery in Kenya often lacks structure, support, and visibility. Through this public-facing tracker, we hope to:

  • Demystify recovery
  • Restore dignity
  • Document a scalable model
  • Encourage families and communities to believe in second chances

This is more than a blog—it’s a blueprint for what is possible when hope meets structure.
